Independent Practice

Set on a beautiful hillside overlooking the Petaluma landscape and lagoon, this compact ADU was designed as a flexible long-term dwelling for either rental use or future family needs. My role involved developing the architectural design alongside the clients, translating their initial ideas into a cohesive plan and proposing key design elements. The process was highly collaborative, with the clients contributing significantly to the early planning and layout studies.

My role involved developing the architectural design alongside the clients, translating their initial ideas into a cohesive plan and proposing key design elements. The process was highly collaborative, with the clients contributing significantly to the early planning and layout studies.

I then developed the design into a complete architectural permit set, including floor plans, elevations, and construction documentation for building department review. The simple form, warm wood cladding, and carefully positioned openings create a compact home that responds to its sloping site while opening toward the surrounding landscape.
